Karachi Water and Sewerage Board's (KW&SB) strategic Dhabeji pumping station witnessed yet another power breakdown on Thursday, resulting in suspension of around 51 million gallons of water supply to the city which is already facing a shortfall of over 50 percent. The KW&SB officials said the power breakdown occurred at around 12:20 pm and lasted for some three and a half hours. However, water supply to Karachi resumed at 3:30 pm. During the period of power outage, around 51 million gallons (MG) of water could not be supplied to the metropolis that has worsened the water woes at different city neighborhoods.
They said Dhabeji, Hub, and Pipi are the main water supply sources of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) which have been facing frequently power cuts this season.
Similar power outage was occurred in Dhabeji Pumping station on August 06, resulting in suspension of 31 million gallons of water to the metropolis. Meanwhile, K-Electric prioritises power supply to all Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) strategic locations including the pumping stations at Dhabeji, Pipri and Gharo.
